Job Summary: WALB in Albany, GA has an immediate opening for a full-time multi-media journalist (MMJ). This is a NEWS reporting position that will FILL-IN as a Sports MMJ and Sports Anchor as needed and/or assigned. The ability to perform both duties is required. We are looking for an aggressive and motivated self-starter who can shoot, write, and edit for TV and all digital platforms. The ideal candidate will be a strong writer who demonstrates sound news & sports judgment and delivers compelling enterprise content daily. Shooting and editing experience, excellent communication skills, and an understanding of digital platforms is a must. This is a great opportunity for an entry-level sports journalist, who has a strong work ethic, initiative, and excellent time management skills. General Responsibilities (include but not limited to): - Research, pitch, gather, shoot, write, edit, and report enterprise news stories for broadcast and digital platforms - Live reporting daily for multiple newscasts - Turn more than one news story daily - Fill-in as sports MMJ and/or sports anchor as assigned - Work with sports team on special coverage, projects, and live events as needed - Develop and maintain sources of information and knowledge about assignments - Make regular beat checks - Computer knowledge including newsroom software (ENPS), Microsoft applications, social media platforms, and Internet use - Demonstrate strong editorial judgment while following journalistic ethics and libel laws - Must stay current with national and local news/sports/weather, know what is going on in the community - Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving in a collaborative manner with co-workers, supervisors, and viewers - Ability to maintain professional and ethical conduct at the station and in the community - Be able to work well under strict deadline pressure - Work a flexible schedule but not limited to overtime, holidays, and weekends - Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

- College degree in journalism or related field required or equivalent professional experience - Experience in shooting and editing own stories is a plus - Must hold a valid driver's license, be insurable, and pass a mandatory drug screening ◾ Please apply online at https://gray.tv/careers#currentopenings and attach resume.
