Revised 3/3/22 Replacing 9/25/19 Title: Corporate Training Specialist Classification: Non-Exempt Reports To: Director of Training Position Summary: The Corporate Training Specialist will use energy and drive to lead team member engagement and training activities that support Vallarta Supermarkets’ culture, core values and strategic objectives, comply with organization policies and procedures, and reflect Vallarta Supermarkets human resource’s philosophy. Must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment and willing to try your hand at anything, adapt and be comfortable with change, exude creativity and enjoy collaboration. General Duties and Responsibilities: • Assess training needs through surveys, and interviews with team members, and management. • Leads the planning, development and implementation of training and development activities, including delivering training focused on building management leadership skills. • Present information using a variety of instructional techniques or formats, such as role playing, team exercises, group discussions, videos, or lectures. • Obtain, organize, and develop training procedure manuals, guides, or course materials, such as handouts or visual materials. • Collaborate directly with Director of Training to analyze turnover, by company, district, store, and department, including feedback from Store HR/SC of team member’s reason for separation, to support in training re-training management on leadership skills. • Review every customer complaint and works closely with district managers to identify areas of opportunities and present recommendations of training, re-training, and coaching related to customer service or team member engagement. • Analyze customer complaint log monthly, by store, district, and department to identify trends and recommendation for training re-training plan of management. • Works closely with district managers to identify areas of opportunities, from analyzed customer service reports, retention survey reports, and present recommendations of a training plan for supervisors, store directors and management teams. • Promotes an environment that supports and encourages the adoption of Vallarta Supermarkets Core Values. • Maintains professional leadership knowledge and coaching skills by attending educational workshops, as approved by the Company, and reviewing professional publications. Knowledge and Skills: • Strong knowledge of employee engagement and training theory and best practices, with the ability to apply in real-world situations. • Basic knowledge of change management theory and best practices, with the ability to apply in employee engagement situations. • Very strong people skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse individuals at all levels. • Ability to use tact and diplomacy in sensitive or emotional situations. • Very strong oral and written communication skills, including training and presentation, with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively to diverse individuals and groups. • Strong coaching/counseling skills, including the ability to function as a mentor to management. • Capacity to develop and maintain trust and build credibility within the organization. • Commitment to and ability to facilitate the adoption of Vallarta’s Core Values • Strong customer service skills, with a commitment to delivering extraordinary customer service. • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks and meet agreed-on deadlines. • Basic project management skills. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Intermediate skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, including the ability to create charts and graphs. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Ability to speak and be understood in English and Spanish. • Ability to manage confidential information with appropriate discretion.

Requirements:

Required Education and Experience: • Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field. • At least six years’ experience in employee engagement, training, and development and/or communications • Bilingual Spanish (fluent: read, write, and speak)

Physical Demands: • May also have to do some light lifting of supplies and materials from time to time • Requires prolonged sitting or standing • Typical physical demands or activities include climbing, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and walking Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: • This is a non-exempt level position; typically works Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm. Depending on your role/duties with Vallarta, we may collect information regarding your criminal history, driving history, and credit history as part of our employment background check. We also collect information regarding your professional and employment history and other qualifications you provide in your employment application, including references, skills/abilities, employment goals and expectations, and other related information (if you choose to provide them). • Education Information. We collect information regarding your professional and education history to the extent provided in your resume/application. • Thermal or other Health-Related Information. If you apply in-person or come to our store(s) as part of the application process, we may need to take your temperature or other similar information as part of our health protection policies. However, this information is not retained. • Inferences. We gather information about your employment history with Vallarta, such as the company location/facility to which you are assigned, position and description of duties, fulltime and part-time status, pay rate, as well as descriptions about your job performance and skills. We may also draw other inferences such as your characteristics, job preferences, personal hobbies, activities, foreign language capabilities, other abilities and the like. Purposes for Collection of Your Personal Information We use the above categories of personal information for the following business purpose(s): • To make recruitment and employment decisions, including assessing your application and qualifications for employment with us. • To conduct and verify background checks (where applicable). • If hired, to facilitate onboarding, payroll, benefit, and leave of absence administration • For security purposes. • To obtain and/or maintain insurance policies and coverage. • To comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. • To manage workers’ compensation claims and conduct workplace investigations. Third-Party Collection of Personal Information The Company may use third-party vendors, such as Snag-a-Job, to facilitate the application process for applicants.
