Description:

Title: Senior Account and Finance Reporting Analyst Classification: Exempt Reports To: Controller Job Description Position Summary: The Senior Account and Finance Reporting Analyst will be preparing reports/dashboards, gathering, and analyzing financial data, and optimizing our reporting processes. Must be able to extract the appropriate data from the datalake and several other databases, compile, clean, analyze the data and provide information/reporting to the owners and management. Will support the Controller and the accounting team, developing, and maintaining efficient accounting practices and procedures to ensure timely and accurate financial statements according to GAAP. This position supports all aspects of the financial closing process and is responsible for financial analysis and reporting, daily cash flow forecasting, yearend audit preparation, annual/midyear budgeting and forecasting and must be able to thrive in a complex, multi-company, and fast-paced environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Perform analysis of financial and management reports to identify trends and variances • Understand new accounting rule implementation, such as Lease Accounting change, as it relates to the company • Responsible for producing and distributing a variety of weekly and period end reports for stores and warehouses • Responsible for booking and reconciling rebates on a periodic basis. Report on the reasons for the variances and enhance the rebates tracking process to make it more efficient and manage the reporting to the satisfaction of all the stakeholders • Responsible for the sales tax remittances, filing returns and reconciliation on a periodic basis • Responsible for payroll tax remittances, filing returns and reconciliation on a periodic basis • Responsible for inventory Roll forwards on a quarterly basis • Responsible for initiating and collaborating the annual budget process and the rolling/midyear forecasting activities in all areas of the Company • Maintains a thorough understanding of GAAP and the reporting structures as they relate to the financial statements and operational units within the Company General Duties and Responsibilities: • Advise department personnel regarding the handling of non-routine accounting and analysis activity • Participate and provide input into strategic planning for department and specific areas of responsibility • Adheres to and communicates accounting and auditing policies and procedures • Support the internal and external audits • Performs period-end financial close responsibilities, including preparing data for financial statements, period end, quarterly and annual financial meetings • Create manual journal entries and coding invoices/vouchers, narratives for variances to budgets • Analyze accounts, records, and reports. Investigate and resolves any accounting issues within area of responsibility • Ensure proper classification of accounts and maintenance of accounting procedures and reporting hierarchies related to managerial accounting and reporting processes • Develops more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy • Support the Controller by cross training in income tax schedules and payments, and owner distributions for the various entities and cash flow forecasts • Support the Controller and the Accounting Manager in ensuring accurate and timely period end, quarterly, and annual reporting of financial information • Collaborate with the other finance department managers and team members to support overall department goals and objectives • Responds to inquiries from management and other department team leaders regarding financial results, special reporting, and analysis • Manage the business property tax statement return submissions for all the stores and the warehouses • Recommend and review proposed process improvements • Explore the modification and implementation of changes in systems and procedures • Perform ad hoc financial analyses as required Knowledge and Skills: • Strong desire to expand own knowledge base through continuous learning, asking questions and proactively applying new skills to the job • Experience with analyzing and reporting data to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions • Advanced level skill in Microsoft Excel utilizing vlookup, pivot tables and more • Microsoft Dynamics AX experience • Excellent time management, analytical and organizational skills, and a committed work ethic • Strong initiative and a process improvement mindset • Must think outside the box and be a self-starter Required Education and Experience: • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or Finance • At least 5 years of experience in a retail organization, performing account analysis and preparing cash flow forecasts • Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction • CPA or CMA designation a plus Physical Demands Will be required to spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers. May also have to do some light lifting of supplies and materials from time to time. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to team members and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other team members accurately, clearly, or quickly. Manage several requests and situations at one time or simultaneously (multitask). Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is management, exempt level position, must be able to work a flexible schedule as required by operations (any day of the week and different schedule shifts as needed). Required Education and Experience: • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or Finance • At least 5 years of experience in a retail organization, performing account analysis and preparing cash flow forecasts • Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction • CPA or CMA designation a plus
