JOB TITLE Bakery Supervisor LOCATION Corporate Office / Stores SUPERVISORY REPORTS TO District Manager CATEGORY Exempt GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF JOB: The Bakery Supervisor assists in the supervision of and in maintaining an efficient and effective operation of the bakery department and their teams through understanding customer, employee and business needs and requirements, and working to exceed them wherever possible. Responsible for all plan numbers, including sales margin, labor and expense control. DUTIES: 1. Fully responsible in the development, coaching, training and supporting of team. Promote efficiency, budget awareness, company standards and commitment to the department and Company. 2. Demonstrate a positive leadership style with an enthusiastic, supportive and flexible attitude. Promoting the importance and benefits of working effectively in a team environment. 3. Ensure that teams hit targets of labor plan, inventory, sales and gross margins, in line with company standards and deadlines. Serves the needs of the Bakery management; ensures thorough and proper forecasting of budgets, and that company targets are achieved. 4. Fully responsible for the supervision of management and employees work to ensure compliance with health and safety laws, rules and regulations, including Company’s safety program, and providing assistance/advice as required; correct unsafe acts by employees, unsafe conditions or equipment immediately. 5. Maintain equipment, work and storage areas effectively, efficiently and securely in line with company standards. 6. Build and maintain excellent working relationships with internal and external contacts. 7. Maintain product consistency in freshness, quality, appearance, and selection variety which caters to our customers. 8. Review management’s 4-week inventory and purchases. Assist management in controlling purchases and inventory throughout each 4-week period. 9. Audit pricing and bakery codes to ensure that bakery items are weighed and priced accurately, including weekly ad items, and other price changes through regular audits. Also ensuring that Vallarta is in compliance with weights and measures state laws and regulations. 10. Monitor all health code regulations ensuring the highest standards of food safety, personal hygiene, and sanitation are practiced. 11. Enforce department’s dress code policy, including name badge and smiles. 12. Fully responsible in training all bakery management in their duties and responsibilities. Support and be a coach to others in order to develop their potential. 13. Enforce company standards of the department’s image with customers through a clean, attractive, well stocked and friendly department, including housekeeping standards. Responsible for overall bakery department cleanliness; floors must be maintained clean and dry. 14. Responsible for follow through and enforcement meal and rest period laws and company policies, through regular auditing. 15. Full knowledge of all equipment used in the bakery department. 16. Enforce company policy on reporting employee injuries to Store Director immediately, as well as reporting employee complaints of harassment to Store Director, and Human Resources immediately while maintaining confidentiality. 17. Report weekly work schedule to Corporate Office receptionist by noon on Thursday’s. 18. Complete knowledge of all Company policies and procedures in Employee Handbook, and effectively enforces them. 19. Thorough and complete communication on a daily basis with District Manager regarding any operational issues. ESSENTIAL SKILLS: • Good interpersonal skills, ability to obtain information, determine course of action and follow through. • Ability to demonstrate good supervisory skills and to work effectively as part of a team. • Proven bakery experience with supervisory responsibility. • Proven financial awareness, with the ability to work within defined budgets. • Good working knowledge of region and competition, market trends and industry changes. • A flexible, highly motivated, proactive and “can do” working style. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate with both customers and colleagues at all levels and liaise effectively with other internal departments. • Proven drive and enthusiasm for bakery sales. • Good attention to detail and accuracy skills with the ability to merchandise creatively and effectively. • Good working knowledge of Word and Excel. • Speak, read, and write English, and understand Spanish. HELPFUL SKILLS: • Good contacts throughout the industry. QUALIFICATIONS: • Must exhibit a responsible, professional, and positive attitude towards the job, customers and employees. • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including, evenings, weekends and holidays. • Must have at least 5 years of bakery experience in a management capacity. • Must be able to document ability to legally work in the US.
