Title: Manager of Events and Community Relations Classification: Full Time Exempt Reports To: Marketing Director Job Description Position Summary: The primary focus of the Manager of Events and community Relations is to coordinate all Vallarta activities related to community events and sponsorships. This requires the evaluation of proposals and presentation to senior management and/or Ownership with recommendations for participation. The Manager of Events and Community Relations will also be a contributor and leader of other marketing projects that include in-store customer communication and in-store events such as celebrity appearances and sampling programs. (to name of few). The Manager of Events and Community Relations’, office is in Sylmar, CA. at Vallarta’s headquarters’ office. However, many events will be off-site requiring frequent travel and working on-site for on-site set up and management. These events typically take place on nights and weekends. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Event sponsorship, charitable giving and community event proposal evaluation and recommendation to achieve buy-in and budget approval. • Manage outside agency relationship and personnel to achieve set goals of customer engagement at events. • Evaluate and provide feedback to agency personnel (their management and on-site personnel) as well as internal resources such as the Marketing Coordinator and Graphic Designer to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of event activations. • Execution: lead the execution of all event sponsorships. This will include on-site presence and/or coordination with 3rd party vendors and other Vallarta Team Members. • Budget Management: Manage all approved projects to budget, produce and route invoices for payment and provide post event reconciliation. • Project Management: management of other marketing or Gonzalez Family Foundation projects as assigned. • People management: responsible for managing Vallarta and vendor personnel in the activation of events. • Responsible for supervision of the Marketing Coordinator, ensuring they are successful in their role, meeting department goals and objectives, positively represents the marketing department by demonstrating Vallarta’s Core Values; Customer Service, Commitment, Integrity, Respect, Humility and Teamwork with everyone they come in contact with. General Duties and Responsibilities: • Develop and maintain a calendar of community and in-store events that will be executed throughout the year. Knowledge and Skills: • Promotes an environment that supports and encourages the adoption of Vallarta Supermarkets Core Values. • Strong customer service skills, with a commitment to delivering extraordinary customer service. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Bilingual English & Spanish) • Solid understanding of consumer marketing principles and practices. • Budget development and tracking. Proven track record of budget development. • Strong Attention to detail with ability to multitask. • Effective project management. Required Education and Experience: • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or Communications. • 2-5 Years professional working experience, preferably in a consumer marketing or sales role. Physical Demands • Will be required to sit and use office equipment and computers. May also have to do some light lifting of supplies and materials from time to time in the office and more frequent at off-site events. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to team members and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other team members accurately, clearly, or quickly. Manage several requests and situations at one time or simultaneously (multitask). This position requires up to 20% travel and overnight stays from time to time Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is management, exempt level position, must be able to work a flexible schedule as required by the projects assigned (any day of the week and different schedule shifts as needed). Required Education and Experience: • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or Communications. • 2-5 Years professional working experience, preferably in a consumer marketing or sales role.
