Description:

The Pizza Cook is responsible for skillfully creating delicious meals from the freshest ingredients to achieve delighted experiences for every guest in support of our company-wide mission of offering deliciousness served with graciousness in all that we do. The position is also responsible for preparing foods for restaurant service, performing all station functions in the assigned cooking area, communicating ticket times and potential problems to the Chef on duty, and performing all other responsibilities as directed by the business or assigned management of which the employee is capable of performing. This is a non-exempt position and typically reports to the Chef or Sous Chef, depending on restaurant structure. Essential Functions • Sets up station according to restaurant guidelines. • Prepares all food items as directed by adhering to recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by the Chef. • Prepares, seasons, cooks, tastes, carves, and presents food items which may include soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other food products. • Demonstrates excellent food safety, sanitation, and organizational skills, while completing duties in a timely manner. • Operates and maintains a variety of kitchen equipment, usually at assigned station. • Restocks and replenishes all items as needed throughout the shift. • Maintains a clean and organized station; assists with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas. • Assists and supports in other tasks within the scope of the restaurant and kitchen, as needed. • Performs additional responsibilities, although not detailed, as requested by a manager that the employee is capable of performing.

Requirements:

Knowledge • Requires a minimum 2 years of closely-related professional kitchen experience or education, with work experience in a high-volume, fine-dining restaurant, or other related kitchen environment preferred. • Requires food preparation/station knowledge of soups, sauté, broiler, fry, grill, and pantry. • Developed food knowledge with a strong desire to continue learning. • Ability to obtain appropriate licenses as required directed by local, State, and/or Federal law. • Working knowledge of applicable safety and sanitation procedures. Skills and Aptitudes • Must commit to providing gracious service with exceptional food knowledge. • Requires advanced knife handling skills and professional cooking skills, including ability to follow recipes and prepare food items to order (including demonstrating basic math skills). • Ability to interact with others in a friendly, enthusiastic, and outgoing manner in a team environment. • Ability to demonstrate problem-solving, self-motivation, and organization skills. • Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure. • Ability to take direction and multitask. • Requires the ability to learn and maintain related culinary knowledge. • Requires the ability to speak, read, and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably and professionally with guests, co-workers, and managers. Working Conditions • Requires the ability to bend, twist, and stand for extended periods of time to perform normal job functions. • Frequently immerses hands in water and water diluted with chemical solutions. • Frequently works with sharp knives, utensils, and hot plates. • Frequently works in hot environment, with occasional environmental exposures to cold. • Requires the ability to lift and transport up to 50 pounds on occasion and up to 35 pounds regularly. • Must meet State minimum age for using required equipment (including slicers). • Flexibility and/or reliability in work schedule are required to provide support when it is needed.
