Description:The Head Chef will be responsible for building a cohesive BOH team, managing the daily operations of the BOH, and creating an environment of fun, warm and relaxed hospitality through simple, delicious food. Candidates should have experience managing kitchens, maintaining food cost, and have proven people management skills. This person must be passionate about our philosophy that ingredients should be consciously sourced from a community of like-minded purveyors to ensure the highest quality results. Requirements:The Head Chef oversees and coordinates the planning, organization, training and leadership of all BOH operations at the restaurant. This person must ensure employees are performing their job responsibilities and meeting all job expectations. Chef is responsible for managing food and labor costs and will provide support and commitment to the management team in regards to strategy, policies, service, staff and food. This person must be able to help maintain and create an exciting, inviting and progressive environment for the restaurant through our food. In addition to following company policies and procedures, principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
General
- Oversee and manage the Back of House and make decisions on matters of importance.
- Have a strong willingness to become part of a community that is focused on people and making connections, while also strengthening the relationships that already exist.
- Share in the restaurant's vision and responsibility of being eco-conscious through sustainability and leadership in the community and industry.
Financial
- Adhere to company standards and projected growth in maintaining all costs associated with the BOH.
- Responsible for ensuring that all financial and personnel duties for the BOH are completed accurately, on time, and in accordance with company policies and procedures
Operations
- Ensure a safe working environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents.
- Manage shifts which include daily decision making, scheduling, product quality and cleanliness.
- Work with GM to investigate and resolve complaints concerning food quality.
Personnel
- Provide direction to employees regarding operational and procedural issues.
- Interview employees. Direct hiring, supervision, development and termination when necessary for BOH positions.
- Oversee training of new employees.
- Develop employees by providing ongoing feedback, establishing performance expectations and conducting performance reviews.
- Maintain an accurate plan of BOH staffing needs.
Safety and Planning
- Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness and maintenance of kitchen. Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies and health codes and regulations.
- Responsible for ensuring consistent high quality of food preparation and service.
- Responsible for training and leading the staff in regards to health code regulations.
Supervisory Duties
- Leading by example and setting the standards for service with maintaining discipline and structure.
- Promote growth within the staff through leadership and positive example.
- Demonstrate integrity in all areas, both personal and professional. Instill trust and dependability among the staff and become a role model built on character and positive actions.
- Constantly promote teamwork among the staff and management.
