Description:

Under limited supervision, the Purchasing Manager assumes full buying responsibility for selected categories. This position is also responsible for the procurement of commodities through the development and implementation of purchasing and commodity strategies and the management of supplier relationships. Other areas of responsibility include price negotiation, planning, production, inventory control, quality control and factory control. Function as a purchasing resource for the franchise community, SRI Operations, Marketing, operation services and SI Field Team relative to areas purchased. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. • Manage contracts effectively and report per company policy. Order materials and services as per negotiated and appropriately approved. Review quotations. Negotiate, finalize, and implement the commodity or product contracts totaling up to $150-200 million per year in spending • Plan, develop, and buy materials to support Sonic’s Limited Time Offers (“LTOs”) and prepare key financial information for reporting and forecasting of assigned items including Purchasing KPIs. Evaluate potential margin initiatives, document with business case and champion change in support of department/company initiatives. • Build and develop relationships with key suppliers and customers. Manage supplier relationships and assist in building effective partnerships. • Develop/execute purchasing strategies for products including monitoring macro trends in supplier and commodity base, implementing plans to react, and developing/executing purchasing strategies for products. This includes recognizing supply chain issues as they occur and/or in anticipation of changes in weather, strategy, or demand. • Act as the key resource for Product Innovation relative to their area of management and ensure system is managed effectively by ensuring accurate, timely data is entered into the system and resulting outputs are monitored, managed, and acted upon.

Requirements:

Education and Work Experience Required: • A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Business, Finance or related field required. • At least 5 years’ experience in a purchasing role

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate clearly, move, and remain in a stationary position. The employee must occasionally transport and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must regularly be able to detect, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, inspect, estimate, observe, and assess items, information, and objects in an office setting.
