Job Description: The SONIC Technology team is seeking to add a “Rock Star” Software Developer to the team as we work to modernize our payment systems across 3,600 SONIC Drive-Ins. Join us as we work to control our own payment destiny and introduce EMV and NFC capabilities to our restaurants. As a software developer, this role may mentor/coach more junior developers, as needed, to assist in their development. Essential Functions: • Understand business requirements and how they translate in application features • Collaborate with a team of IT professionals to set specifications for new applications • Design creative prototypes according to specifications • Write high quality, unit-tested source code within deadlines • Conduct functional and non-functional testing • Troubleshoot and debug applications • Evaluate existing applications to reprogram, update and add new features • Develop technical documentation to accurately represent application design and code • Other duties as assigned. Education and Work Experience: • 5+ years’ experience in Software development and delivery experience in C++, Java, .NET, or other modern programming languages • A passion for software engineering and test automation • Experience in leading large, diverse teams building custom applications • Great OO skills, including strong design pattern knowledge • Experience working with Agile, lean, CI/CD and/or XP practices • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment • Ability to connect with people and to quickly build trust with others • DevOps experience is a major plus • Experience in iOS and/or Android applications a plus • BS degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field.
