Position Summary The Controller will lead the accounting department and be responsible for period-end close, accounting operations (AP and AR), cash management, year-end audit and tax returns. This role will also oversee the payroll function for the company. The Controller will review and analyze special projects affecting financial aspects of the Corporation and its entities. The Controller will ensure adequate internal controls are in place and financial statements are completed in compliance with US GAAP. This position is a critical within the organization and will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer. Key Accountabilities • Directly supervise team of 5-8 people. • Lead period-end close process; establish and coordinate schedules to ensure timely and accurate financial results are provided to management. • Prepare and present financial reporting package to the Board of Directors and senior leadership team. • Partner cross-functionally on new business initiatives with a pro-active, practical and solution oriented approach. • Lead the development, documentation and maintenance of process improvements and procedures to maintain and strengthen internal controls. • Work with direct reports to implement on-going improvements to the business through automation and streamlining of procedures. • Oversee the company’s AP and AR functions, establishing process and implementing new systems. • Oversee the payroll function, responsible for processing payroll for all employees. • Lead the annual audit of the company’s financial statements; prepare audit schedules, provide supporting documentation and manage relationship with external audit firm. • Oversee all other audits (i.e. tax, statutory, insurance, etc.) and provide supporting documentation. • Manage and comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings. • Perform treasury function; manage bank accounts, banking relationship and cash flow. • Manage insurance coverage's, claims and premiums. • Research technical accounting issues for compliance and propose recommendations. • Provide accounting guidance to the business as needed. • Maintain high standards of ethics, integrity and honesty.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited four-year university. • CPA required. • 10+ years in a financial or accounting operations role. • 3+ years of public accounting experience preferred. • Experience working across departments to implement new processes and improvement upon existing processes. • Start-up experience a strong positive. • Senior manager level supervision experience. • Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains experience a plus. • Retail and/or manufacturing experience a plus. • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. • Strong attention to detail and follow through. • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking and analytical abilities.
