Description:The successful candidate will have experience working within the food industry and a rapidly changing business environment, with the ability to multi task. The Buyer is responsible for purchasing all perishable food items and non-perishable items. You will be responsible for quality checks on orders and shortages. You will report directly to the Warehouse Manager and will be supported by another Buyer within the facility.
Requirements:• Buyers are responsible for the profitable procurement and timely delivery of products
for assigned lines.
• Works closely with the Director of Purchasing to achieve the goals of the company.
• Recommend improvement areas in a material supply chain to accomplish optimum
material inventory and lean principles.
• Provides supply chain/inventory management for promotionally active categories and
corresponding financial accountabilities.
• Determine quantity to order based volume for food and/or stock requirements for
non-food items
• Prepare and place vendor orders in crunch-time timely
• Strive to obtain inventory and turn goals, while maintaining service level and
minimizing distress.
• Interface with other departments and division personnel to accomplish job functions.
• Develop and maintain good working relationships with vendors, store operations,
distribution center and division office personnel.
• Participates and analyze end of month inventory
• Manage Accounts Payable variance processes for distribution sourced items to ensure
correct prices have been invoiced.
• Maintain and have easy accessibility to all necessary department files and records.
Additional Info:• 1-3 year food buying experience
• Inventory management, accounting and financial management practices
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills; ability to take initiative and make fact
based decisions
• Ability to plan and organize effectively
• Written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal skills to develop and
maintain effective business relationships both internally and externally
• Strong computer aptitude in MS-Office including Word, Excel and Access
• Ability to concentrate and deal with frequent interruptions
