PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Cooking Recipes, Testing and Refining 50% Innovation Brainstorms 20% New Ingredient Procurement & Grocery Shopping 10% Writing Recipes 10% Collaborating with Dietitian and Culinary Operations 15% Large Batch Testing & Shelf Life Testing 5% Position Summary The Culinary R&D Cook will work directly with VP of Food Innovation & Snap Kitchen’s R&D Chef to bring new dishes to the menu and improve existing recipes. This person will be supporting the R&D Chef with supply chain, recipe development, recipe testing, shelf life testing, seeking out interesting ingredients and participating in creative brainstorms around new food dishes for Snap meals. The Culinary R&D Cook will also work closely with Snap’s Registered Dietitian to ensure that recipes in process are within nutrition and ingredient standards. This role requires a passion for food & health, creativity, a keen focus on detail, and overall organization. This is a full-time position that will work primarily out of the test kitchen located in the Triangle store. Key Accountabilities • Ingredient sourcing and shopping for development needs. • Daily Cooking to create, test and perfect innovative new recipes under the direction of VP of Food Innovation. • Collaborate with in house dietitian. • Participate in brainstorms and collaborative conversations about food, health trends, and techniques. • Collaborate with Executive Concept Chef. • Collaborate with Culinary Operations Senior Manager to test recipe viability. • Accurate and Organized development notes to write recipes. • Understand Snaps portions all food items. Complies with all portion sizes, quality standards, department rules, policies and procedures. • Utilizes kitchen equipment to prepare food items such as: knives, slicers, whips, pots, pans, warmers, steamers, grills, ovens, etc. • Ensures proper food temperatures are maintained and food is stored correctly. • Keeps workstation and equipment clean, organized, and sanitized. • Follows and upholds all health codes and sanitation regulations. • Understands and operates basic kitchen equipment. • Performs other ad hoc duties assigned.

Requirements:

• Minimum two years of formal culinary experience, with a passion for healthy eating and natural ingredients. • This role would be ideal for a highly creative recent graduate with a passion for healthy food. • Experience working in a computer network environment utilizing Microsoft Word and Excel programs. • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. • Ability to speak and understand English. • Ability to work a Monday-Friday, normal business hours and special tasting events. • Ability to travel to other Snap Kitchen markets/production kitchens.
