The Director of Total Rewards will lead our strategy development, design, implementation, administration, and governance of all compensation and benefit programs for Portillo’s. This role will ensure all programs enable our company Purpose, Values, business strategy, are effective in attracting, rewarding, engaging, and retaining key talent, and are fully compliant with local legal and regulatory requirements. This is a collaborative role that will work cross-functionally with Executive Leadership, Human Resources, Finance, Legal and various departments to understand business issues and collectively develop effective solutions. Family: Work together to make everyone feel at home, and we step up when someone needs help -Direct the design and implementation of company aligned and locally relevant compensation and benefits programs in collaboration with business unit and local market leadership. -Oversee the communication and education of compensation and benefits programs to ensure understanding by team members. -Oversee compensation and benefits related vendor relationships, negotiating services and managing costs. Our greatness is rooted in Quality, Service, Attitude and Cleanliness -Oversee the efficient and effective execution of core Total Rewards processes including Executive, Broad Based, and Incentive Compensation; as well as Retirement, and Health and Welfare Benefits programs. -Monitor the effectiveness of existing compensation and benefits policies, guidelines and procedures, recommending plan revisions, as well as new plans, in support of the strategic plan. -Establish reporting, and analytics, emphasizing conducting Compensation data analysis and successfully deploying quality Benefits and Compensation programs. Energy: We move with urgency and passion, while maintaining attention to detail -Ensure strong governance and compliance of all Compensation and Benefit programs, including governance of business unit specific variable pay programs. -Serve as primary-owner of Team Member related policies and guidelines related to Benefits and Compensation -Ensure the capability to monitor local market trend information to ensure compensation and benefits programs are competitive and responsive to both corporate and local business unit needs. ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS This position reports to the CHRO and leads and manages the work of the Benefits and Compensation teams, a group of approximately 5+ people both exempt and non-exempt. The Director of Total Rewards interacts with executive and senior leadership, other HR leaders, as well as Legal, Operations, Payroll and Accounting/Finance. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Educational Level/Certifications -Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field preferred; MBA is preferred Minimum Work Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities -3+ years in leading a Total Rewards function (all aspects of compensation and benefits) -10+ years of related experience in Benefits and Compensation including management level responsibility -Experience overseeing executive compensation including regular engagement with the Compensation Committee of either privately held or publicly traded companies. -Experience implementing change in a dynamic environment. -Excellent leadership with a track record of developing and maintaining high performing teams. -Strong presentation and executive engagement skills. -Aptitude for balancing multiple priorities with strong organization and prioritization capability. -Exceptional ability to build consensus across a wide range of constituents. Travel Requirement -Occasional travel may be required 5%. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge, Skills & Abilities -Training facilitation -Small/Medium group presentation skills Educational Level/Certifications Advanced degree in relevant field. One or more of the following certificates/credentials are recommended: -Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (“CEBS”) or equivalent. -Group Benefits Administrator (“GBA”). -Certified Professional Disability Management (“CPDM”) or equivalent. -Qualified 401(k) Administrator (“QKA”). -Certified Compensation Professional (“CCP”). Work Experience and Qualification -Multi-unit experience (e.g. retail, hospitality, restaurant) -Multi-state employer experience.
