Title: Business Analyst, Data Strategy, and Governance Classification: Exempt Reports To: Director of Data Strategy Governance JOB DESCRIPTION Position Summary: The Director of Data Strategy Governance will support development, implementation, operationalization, and escalated support for corporate, warehouse, and store data environments. The position demands strong technical acumen with relevant systems, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and consistent project management/communication. The incumbent will support the evolution of Vallarta’s data needs including cloud storage, enterprise reporting, data validation and testing for merchandising/master data, financial, human resources, labor management, asset protection, and supply chain. General Duties and Responsibilities: •Responsible for project management, including planning, communication, change management, quality control, stakeholder alignment, issue resolution, and conflict management. •Works with stakeholders to understand data needs and possible best solutions. •Support technical development of technology upgrades and new technologies, gaining and maintaining stakeholder alignment (ownership, executive, senior management, team members), including software/firmware/hardware, configuration, networking, testing, troubleshooting, and managing change impact on existing processes (Business and IT). •Work with IT and other departments for implementation of new systems. •Scope includes an understanding of the system and associated business processes, data validation, and testing/troubleshooting data discrepancies. •Uses an understanding of business processes to create test scenarios that will ensure data consistency and reliability. •Manage development and support provided by third parties (presently primarily Nagarro). •Manage approvals, delivery expectations, and stakeholder communication. •Creates documentation for current and future data flows and processes. •Collaborate closely with Vendors, Help Desk, and Field Support functions to resolve emerging issues and to effectively establish support for system changes and introduction of new technology, including clear and simple-to- follow support procedures. •Provide necessary end-user support. •Meet or exceed project quality objectives and user expectations. •Deliver projects at or below planned cost. Knowledge and Skills: •Manages multiple demands and maintains forward progress on assigned work. Comfortable working under pressure. Does not require extensive follow-up from management on completion of tasks. Agile and meets quick turnaround demands and deadlines. •Comfortable taking initiative with a good sense of when escalation/discussion is needed before acting. •Acts with urgency to respond to customer-service impacting issues. •Exceptional communication skills. Proactively communicates, not leaving stakeholders with uncertainty regarding status. Knows what type of communication is suited to different situations (i.e., phone call, meeting, e-mail, Teams chat, text message, etc.). •Strong project management skills including planning and communication of status. •Ability to collaborate well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience including leadership, users, help desk, field support, system administrators, network administrators, database administrators, analysts, and management. •Works in a graceful, positive, and confident manner with patience and flexibility. As the position deals with high- stress situations cross-functionally, able to appropriately de-escalate in conflict situations to keep all resources and stakeholders focused. •Rigorous attention to detail. •Effectively manages risks and benefits to assure the business and its customers are not negatively impacted. •User-level experience with Windows 11 and Office365 applications. Required Education and Experience: •Bachelor’s degree in business, Information Technology, or related discipline. •Relevant progressive experience in an environment with concurrent demands from multiple functions (business and IT). •Five or more years of experience with consideration given to candidates with less time based on demonstrated ability. Physical Demands: • Requires prolonged sitting. • Typical physical demands or activities include standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and walking. • Requires infrequent movement of IT equipment (less than 25 pounds). Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Monday through Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, at Vallarta’s headquarters in Santa Clarita, CA. This is not a remote or hybrid position. With the exceptions noted below, this is a full-time on-site position. Overnight and weekend work will be required as driven by project demands (infrequent). Company-reimbursed travel (infrequent day and infrequent overnight) may be required in the Los Angeles area (San Fernando Valley, Whittier, Downey, Valencia, Canyon Country), Antelope Valley (Palmdale, Lancaster, Victorville), Bakersfield, and Fresno.
