Description:

Summary: The Assistant Commissary supports the Commissary Manager of a location. Tasks may include purchasing and receiving, food production and storage, ensuring food quality, helping control food and labor costs, ensuring product is delivered to units, leading the commissary team, educating associates on equipment and food safety, and performing all other responsibilities as directed by the business or as assigned by Management. This is an exempt position and typically reports to the Commissary Manager. Essential Functions:  Assists with purchasing for the entire branch, food production and storage; helps to keep pricing and order guides updated; and assists with establishing par inventory levels for all products  Helps to control food and labor costs to maximize profitability  Ensures food quality, recipe, and portion control standards meet Food Safety Standards and Specifications  Assists with daily delivery of food items and various goods/products throughout the location  Assists with training all associates on food and equipment safety  Helps to supervise the day-to- day activities of non-management associates  Assists in assigning work responsibilities, preparing schedules, and helps ensure that all shifts are covered  Resolves routine questions and problems and refers more complex issues to higher levels  Provides recommendations for hiring, firing, advancement, promotion or any other status change of associates within the commissary  Works with the Commissary Manager and vendors to ensure purchases are in accordance with company specifications

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:  Requires up to 1 year of job-related experience in low volume and/or multi-unit Food and Beverage or Merchandise operations or other related experience  Demonstrated knowledge of product, service, quality, equipment and operations standards required  Requires the ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with individuals  Requires basic keyboarding or other repetitive motions  Requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 20 lbs  Experience overseeing deliveries - warehouse, cross docking, and production kitchen preferred  Serve Safe, HACCP or other certifications preferred  May require operation of heavy equipment Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE) Minority/Female/Disabled/Veteran (M/F/D/V) Drug Free Workplace (DFW)
