Job Summary: WTAP has an opportunity for a tech-savvy Digital News Producer. This person will be responsible for stories on WTAP.com and the WTAP social media platforms. The Digital News Producer will be expected to regularly update digital and social platforms and work closely with the WTAP news team. Additionally, the Digital News Producer will oversee content contributed by newsroom staff for quality and accuracy; they will also coordinate visual content generated by the news team into compelling digital journalism by use of slide-shows, videos, links, polls, live streams, live chats, and other features. The person should be comfortable in front of and behind the camera. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: • College degree in Journalism, Digital Journalism or similar • Excellent news judgment; strong writing and editing skills • Write and post website stories, videos, photos & multimedia content • Disperse breaking news with urgency via text/mobile/web and broadcast • Strong emphasis on professional social media skills as related to journalism • Ability to teach and lead by example while using the latest technology • Attend daily news meetings, and work closely with newsroom colleagues in various locations to identify and promote upcoming content on different media platforms • Ability to cover news independently, accurately creatively and quickly under deadline pressure • Ability to shoot and edit video • Willingness to take direction as a team player is essential • Seek out innovative new ways to share information on digital platforms

Requirements:

• BS/BA in Journalism, Digital Journalism or similar • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written • Knowledge of AP Style • Must have strong work ethic, excellent people skills, and must maintain professional attitude at all times. • Understanding of Current Events and Sports • Able to use social media outlets to engage viewers • Must be able to work well under pressure and with limited supervision • Schedule flexibility; schedule and responsibilities are subject to change at the News Director’s discretion. • A valid driver`s license and a good driving record • On-Air Comfort and clear, accurate, conversational delivery style • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record Please apply online at https://gray.tv/careers#currentopenings
