Job Summary: Weekend Meteorologist with MMJ responsibilities every day gathering daily news content and telling a compelling story through creative writing and video editing for broadcast and digital platforms. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: • Analyze weather data and prepare detailed forecasts • Prepare graphics to support weather presentation • Conversational On-air presentation • Flexible schedule for severe weather scenarios • Work closely with news management in designing presentation style and editorial content for weather presentations • Post content to website and station social media platforms o Visit area schools and organizations to talk about the importance of knowing the weather. o Give station tours while highlighting the importance of the local television station and what services it provides to the community and the importance of local weather casts • Researching, writing and editing daily content for television and web platforms • Working with management and staff to generate stories and content • Post stories and updates to station website and social media • Meeting daily deadlines in a fast-paced environment • Ability to operate and contribute to a team environment • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously • Computer literacy, including newsroom computer systems • Ability to research and schedule future stories or features • Ability to deliver information live on television using a ‘one man band’ set up of camera, and TVU backpack • Promo upcoming stories on FACEBOOK LIVE • Willingness to work weekends/holidays and ‘non business’ hour shifts • Appear at station sponsored events and promote station/brand • Backup Anchor when necessary • Other Duties as Assigned

Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree in meteorology • Prior experience as a broadcast meteorologist (amount will vary depending on specific position) • Strong on-air communication skills • Ability to work as part of an on-air team and part of a weather team • Knowledge with WSI Max and their various platforms a plus • Ability to be creative with graphic design and presentation • Demonstrated ability to accurately forecast weather • Proficient in social media platforms Additional requirements: o Position requires a clean driving record and a valid driver’s license o The ability to carry 30 to 50 pounds of equipment o Professional appearance a must o A general knowledge of the use of television news cameras (P2, Sony, etc.) o A general knowledge of newscast production systems (ENPS, iNews, etc.) o Interest in sports helpful but not required ◘ Come join our news team, apply online at https://gray.tv/careers#currentopenings by searching the station call letters and attach resume
