Job Summary: KWTX News 10 is seeking an experienced journalist with a proven track record of leadership and community involvement to co-anchor KWTX News 10 This Morning, the dominant #1 morning newscast in Central Texas. KWTX prides itself on leadership on-air, Online and in our community. Our anchors are leaders in the newsroom, lending a hand to other journalists while developing multi-platform content of their own. Their leadership extends outside of work, too, where they are expected embrace the people and culture of Central Texas, becoming involved in local organizations and nonprofits. The ideal candidate thrives when working with a team, exhibits strong editorial judgment and is willing to do what it takes to get the best story. Anchors are expected to regularly create compelling original investigative content, develop story ideas and sources, and work with producers to generate innovative, interesting newscasts. The right person for this position is as comfortable delivering breaking news and in-depth investigative reporting as they are talking about the weather and interviewing important figures. A positive attitude and the ability to engage our sophisticated audience on-air and on our digital platforms is a must. The ideal candidate is someone with the drive, passion, skill, and charisma to be a leader at a station that has been #1 for more than 60 years. General Responsibilities: -Anchor weekday morning newscasts, and other newscasts/content on all platforms as assigned -Ability to shoot, write, and edit all work for weekly investigative content -Strong live skills including extended breaking news coverage and the ability to ad-lib and improvise effortlessly -Produce morning newscasts as necessary -Collaborate with producers, reporters, and production staff to make shows as compelling and clean as possible -Help oversee morning content and report to management with any issues -Work flexible hours and days, and willingness to fill in on other shifts as needed -Proven leadership skills working with staff at all levels -Generate enterprising investigative content and cover a variety of assignments -Strong ethical news judgment and priority setting -Ability to make quick decisions and work effectively under tight deadlines -Develop community relationships and make a reasonable amount of appearances in Central Texas -Ability to interact professionally and effectively with all KWTX employees and external organizations -Engage audience on all station digital and social platforms -Perform other duties as assigned by management

Requirements:

-3 to 5 years of anchor/reporting experience -Degree in broadcast journalism or related field -Proven experience as an investigative reporter -Strong, demonstrated news judgment -Superior writing and copy-editing skills -Proficiency in story creation and newscast production -Working knowledge of AP ENPS -Ability to work in a team environment and under constant deadlines -Drug screen and MVR check required. ◘ If interested you can apply online at https://gray.tv/careers#currentopenings
