Job Summary: KWCH TV offers internships for college students eager to learn about the daily demands and challenges of a commercial broadcasting operation. Our sports internship is designed to be "hands-on", providing students with a real-life, fast-paced newsroom experience. Students will work with producers and MMJs to learn first-hand what it takes to research and write stories for on air and digital platforms, shoot and edit video and respond to breaking news. Internships are unpaid and the student must earn concurrent college credit. Interns will be expected to work approximately 20 hours per week. The schedule will be arranged by the intern, the internship coordinator and the intern's academic advisor. Students applying for internships must be either a junior or senior in college or in a graduate degree program. Applicants should have basic knowledge of news-style writing. Those participating in the internship program must understand there are no guarantees for future employment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: -Learn newsroom operations including newsroom computer systems, on air and digital platforms. -Contributing and researching story ideas -Writing stories in broadcast style -Writing stories in web/print style -Editing video using non-linear editing systems -Learning to shoot video -Making phone calls to set-up stories or schedule interviews

Requirements:

-Junior or senior in college OR in graduate degree program. -Must be able to earn college credit for internship -Basic knowledge of news-style writing -Basic knowledge of using computers in a school/work environment
