Job Summary: KKXII-TV News 12 is seeking a dual threat storyteller for our Sherman newsroom to help bring the stories that matter to Texomans into their homes five nights a week. This is a full-time position working directly under the news director and anchors. Three days during the week, you'll serve as a general assignment multimedia journalist covering stories in north central Texas and southern Oklahoma. Then on weekends, you'll serve as producer for our evening newscasts and fill in as needed to report on local breaking or important stories. You'll learn the ropes from an experienced, award-winning news team, and tell stories that air in the market’s top-rated newscasts, as well as contribute your material onto our digital platforms. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: ˑOn-air reporting three days a week ˑServe as primary producer/editor for weekend evening newscasts ˑShooting video ˑNews writing (both digital and broadcast) ˑVideo editing ˑFinding and telling compelling stories (local, regional, state or national) ˑWriting and posting multimedia-rich digital news stories ˑPosting and updating breaking news on our digital platforms ˑOperating the teleprompter when producing ˑAssisting in answering the station's news tip hotline calls and monitoring police & fire scanner traffic

Requirements:

The right candidate will be comfortable and skilled in front of the camera, whether it be doing live shots in the field or studio, a strong news writer and video editor, a competent problem-solver, a quick thinker, and a good communicator. Must work well under pressure and on deadline. Knowledge of broadcast news formatics, broadcast and digital news writing, as well as social media best practices required. Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field preferred. Must commit to Gray Television’s drug-free workplace policy.
