Panama City Beach is a vacation spot for hundreds of thousands of visitors, who make their way to our sandy white beaches for outdoor concerts, succulent seafood, and sports and recreation. It’s also home to a growing community that thrives in a bustling local economy with an emphasis on southern hospitality. Being part of the community is the mission of WJHG and WECP, the NBC and CBS affiliates for Northwest Florida. WJHG was launched in 1953, and the call letters reflect the initials of the original founder of Gray Television, James Harrison Gray. It has the only local news team to win dozens of awards from the Associated Press for the past eight years, including best newscast, best weathercast, best sportscast, and best overall. WECP is the new Local 18, bringing a fresh look to local news. Local 18 offers new ways for the viewer to interact on air and online, and digs deep on political and social issues in our community. Bringing two news teams together, WJHG and WECP have more meteorologists than anywhere in the market, providing comprehensive, round the clock coverage during major weather events like hurricanes. Whether it’s on air, online, or on social media, it’s the daily mission of WJHG and WECP to be first, fast, and thorough in all we do. We recruit from top journalism colleges, and seek leaders with a proven record of professionalism and integrity. Our quality product is a reflection of our high standards.
