Job Summary: KXII-TV News 12 is seeking a morning news producer for our Sherman newsroom to produce and edit our two hour local morning newscast every weekday. This is a full-time, behind-the-scenes position working directly under the news director and morning anchors. You'll learn the ropes from an experienced, award-winning news team, and you’ll help put together the market’s top-rated newscast, as well as serving as the on-call breaking/spot news photographer while working an overnight shift. Hours are 11 pm to 7 am, Monday through Friday (work week begins Sun at 11 pm). Responsibilities include, but not limited to: • Producing and editing a daily two-hour morning newscast • Strong news writing skills (broadcast and digital) • Strong video editing skills • Coordinating with reporters in the field and on live shots • Operating the teleprompter • Posting new stories online • Updating station's social media platforms • Monitoring police scanner traffic • Occasionally shoot and cover breaking/spot overnight news

Requirements:

The right candidate will be a strong news writer and video editor, a competent problem-solver, a quick thinker, and a good communicator. Must work well under pressure and on deadline. Knowledge of electronic news gathering & non-linear editing required. Knowledge of digital news writing and social media preferred. Some newsroom experience is preferred, but not required. Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field preferred. Must pass pre-employment drug screen and commit to Gray Television’s drug-free workplace policy.
