Job Summary: KXII-TV News 12 is seeking an assignment editor/producer for our Sherman newsroom to help bring the stories that matter to Texomans into their homes each night. This is a full-time, behind-the-scenes position working directly under the News Director with reporters, photographers, producers, and anchors. You'll learn the ropes from an experienced, award-winning news team, and you’ll help our reporters put together stories to air in the market’s top-rated newscasts, as well as co-produce our noon, 5, and 6 p.m. newscasts. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: ˑNewsgathering ˑNewswriting (both digital and broadcast) ˑAssigning stories to reporters ˑCoordinating with news crews in the field ˑCoordinating live shots ˑNews producing ˑVideo editing ˑWriting and posting news stories to our website ˑAssisting in updating station's social media accounts ˑOperating the teleprompter

Requirements:

The right candidate will be a strong news writer and video editor, a competent problem-solver, a quick thinker, and a good communicator. Must work well under pressure and on deadline. Knowledge of electronic news gathering & non-linear editing required. Knowledge of digital news writing and social media preferred. Some newsroom experience is preferred, but not required. Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field preferred. Must have valid driver’s license, good driving record, and commitment to Gray Television’s drug free workplace policy.
