Job Summary: WLOX has an immediate opening for a great sports journalist who develops sources, breaks top stories, and generates content and clicks on our digital platforms. Our sports reporters tell stories, and make viewers connect with the athletes they watch. Whether it's on the high school gridiron or the AA baseball diamond, the WLOX sports team is there. We add urgency to copy, and know how to adjust on the fly when breaking news changes our daily plans. This position will also include producing content for our digital and social platforms. With OTT more important than ever, finding a dynamic sports reporter who can shine on every WLOX platform is critical. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES *Develop story ideas *Build an array of sources *Write snappy, factual copy *Use words and video to create engaging teases *Know how the stories in a newscast impact viewers and the community *Adjust on the fly when breaking news changes our coverage plans *Write content for WLOX.com and station's social media platforms *Be a leader in the newsroom *Be able to work long hours covering breaking news online, including holidays and weekends
