Title: LOA Benefits Coordinator Classification: Non-Exempt General Job Description: The Leave of Absence Benefit Coordinator is responsible for the overall correspondence of leave of absence, interactive process, unemployment, and disability claims. The Leave of Absence Benefit Coordinator organizes, prepares, and submits all documentation for leave of absence or requested from EDD within the specified deadlines. This position also bills for benefit premiums for team members on leave of absence. Detailed Job Description: 1. Receive leave of absence request and determines eligibility of protected leaves. 2. Helps create response letters for FMLA, CFRA, PDL, and personal leaves. 3. Reviews doctor’s notes and interactive process received from HR/Safety Compliance Specialist 4. Guides and communicates with Store HR/Safety Compliance Specialist regarding interactive process. 5. Follow-ups with team members’ status of leave of absence with team member, HR/Safety Compliance Specialist and Store Directors. 6. Receives customers and team member’s complaint, phone calls and records complaint on a word document. 7. Sends communication of benefits premiums due to team members while on leave of absence. 8. Administers unemployment claims for assigned store locations including corporate office, and warehouses. 9. Reviews and responds to all unemployment or disability claims. 10. Prepares and issues disability and unemployment response letters. 11. Researches and gathers information for unemployment claims hearings. 12. Manages and handles all calls regarding unemployment and disability claims from government agency officials and former team members. 13. Mails out correspondence adhering to deadlines from EDD. 14. Enter and maintain data info into excel spreadsheets, and HRMS. 15. Track hearing results of favorable or unfavorable decisions. 16. Compile personnel records to prepare for HR/Safety Compliance Specialist to use at hearings. 17. Interview store directors or managers to obtain information regarding termination details. 18. Mails out paperwork to store locations as needed. 19. Send emails regarding unemployment hearings to corresponding HR/Safety Compliance Specialist. 20. Any other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1. Possess cultivate and exhibit a positive, uplifting teamwork attitude. 2. Must be bilingual (English & Spanish) 3. Computer Proficient 4. Intermediate use of Word, Excel and Email 5. Be multi-tasker and handle large quantity of work 6. Must work well with deadlines 7. Understand, speak, read and write in English and Spanish 8. Requires basic math 9. Must be able to type; min. of 45 wpm. 10. Must be able to lift at least 15lbs. 11. Must have a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays. Minimum Qualifications: • High School Diploma or GED required or • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in human resources Desired Qualifications: • Combined HR experience in retail/grocery environment

Depending on your role/duties with Vallarta, we may collect information regarding your criminal history, driving history, and credit history as part of our employment background check. We also collect information regarding your professional and employment history and other qualifications you provide in your employment application, including references, skills/abilities, employment goals and expectations, and other related information (if you choose to provide them). • Education Information. We collect information regarding your professional and education history to the extent provided in your resume/application. • Thermal or other Health-Related Information. If you apply in-person or come to our store(s) as part of the application process, we may need to take your temperature or other similar information as part of our health protection policies. However, this information is not retained. • Inferences. We gather information about your employment history with Vallarta, such as the company location/facility to which you are assigned, position and description of duties, fulltime and part-time status, pay rate, as well as descriptions about your job performance and skills. We may also draw other inferences such as your characteristics, job preferences, personal hobbies, activities, foreign language capabilities, other abilities and the like. Purposes for Collection of Your Personal Information We use the above categories of personal information for the following business purpose(s): • To make recruitment and employment decisions, including assessing your application and qualifications for employment with us. • To conduct and verify background checks (where applicable). • If hired, to facilitate onboarding, payroll, benefit, and leave of absence administration • For security purposes. • To obtain and/or maintain insurance policies and coverage. • To comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. • To manage workers’ compensation claims and conduct workplace investigations. Third-Party Collection of Personal Information The Company may use third-party vendors, such as Snag-a-Job, to facilitate the application process for applicants. In this process, these third parties may collect an applicant’s personal information and provide it to us for employment decisions. Additional CCPA Disclosures At this time, the CCPA does not afford applicants or employees the right to make requests regarding their Personal Information as it relates to the application and/or employment relationship. This does not affect other rights you may have under other laws.
