Description:

Job Related Duties: The Warehouse Laborer reports to the Parts Counter Clerks and his/her responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: • Move freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, or containers, by hand or using trucks, fork lifts, or other equipment. • Sort cargo before loading and unloading. • Attach identifying tags or mark products with identifying information. • Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs. • Stack merchandise/products in locations such as storage sheds as directed. • Record numbers of units handled or moved, using daily production sheets or work tickets. • Install protective devices, such as bracing, padding, or strapping, to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported. • Maintain equipment storage areas to ensure that inventory is protected. • Adjust controls to guide, position, or move equipment. • Guide loads being lifted to prevent swinging. • Carry needed tools or supplies from storage or trucks and return them after use. • Carry out general cleaning and yard duties, such as sweeping and removing debris and garbage from warehouse area. • Assemble or dismantle equipment using hand tools. • Load shipments, belongings, or materials. • Maintain material moving equipment in good working condition. • Monitor indoor and outdoor conditions for safety issues. • Move materials, equipment, or supplies. • Operate moving or lifting equipment. • Package materials or products. • Position material handling equipment. • Review work orders or schedules to determine operations or procedures. • Shovel materials. • Sort materials or objects for processing or transport as well as transport when necessary.

Requirements:

Physical Requirements: • Must be able to spend significant amount of time standing and/or walking on surfaces such as bare ground, gravel, concrete, wood, metal, and any other conditions that may occur during the course of daily operations. • Safe operation of dollies, forklifts, lift trucks, hammers, hand trucks, pallet jacks, etc. • Ability to spend time indoors and outdoors exposed to potentially difficult environmental conditions such as excessive heat and cold. • Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. • Use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things. • Ability to identify information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events. • Ability to use either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines. • Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts. • The ability to exert maximum muscle force to push, pull, lift, or carry objects. • The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without 'giving out' or fatiguing. • The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions. • The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. • The ability to exert yourself physically over long periods of time.
