Description:Position Summary:
Responsible for store safety inspections to assure compliance with Company policies, as well as other State and Federal regulations. Has direct impact in the reduction of frequency and severity of work-related employee and customer incidents. Responsible for ongoing communication of safety measures and concerns with store management and corporate personnel. This may include, but is not limited to assessments, trainings, program recommendations, safety tools and equipment assessments, job safety analysis and other projects as assigned. Proposes ideas and programs to create and maintain a secure, safe and healthy work environment, and is an integral team member of the Risk Management team.
Roles & Responsibilities
• Conducts store safety audits to ensure OSHA compliance on an on-going basis
• Interact with Store Safety Coordinators, monitor and create training/development for Safety Coordinators
• Interact with HR/Risk personnel and provide Safety training
• Reviews safety audits with store management and create plan of action if warranted
• Attend weekly Store Director meetings with Department Managers discuss Safety program
• Review safety audits with Director of Risk and formulate plan of actions
• Makes recommendations for safety related disciplinary actions as appropriate
• Provides recommendations and proposals to reduce incidents based on hazard inspection results
• Prepares weekly/monthly reports on audits and projects
• Review incident trends with corporate Management and provide recommendations and solutions
• Maintains on-going communication with store management and corporate staff
• Reviews store weekly inspections for deficiencies and completion of items
• Assist in the development of monthly/weekly employee safety training
• Participate in monthly Safety Leaders meetings and trainings as required
• Participate in monthly Store Directors/Department Managers meetings and safety trainings as required
• Prepares CUPA and other agency inspection reports and responses
• Assists in OSHA complaints and/or inspections responses
• Prepares reports as assigned
• Works on special projects as assigned
Knowledge:
Proficiency with Microsoft programs including Excel, Word, Outlook and Power Point
Experience and knowledge of Cal-OSHA regulations and other State and Federal regulatory requirements
Have some knowledge of DOT safety requirements and regulations
Skills and Ability:
Must possess excellent communication skills
Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with store employees as well as executive management
Must have the ability to work independently while also maintaining supervisor(s) informed of projects and tasks to be completed
Must be able to work a flexible work schedule
Must have reliable transportation and travel 50% to 75% of the workweek
Must be highly organized
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
Job Requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalent-Required
College Degree-Preferred
Professional Certifications/Designations (OSHA, ASSE, FHC) — Desirable
Experiences:
3-6 years experience in conducting OSHA inspections and/or safety related field as it pertains to retail, industrial and or commercial operations.
