Description:

Purpose: The purpose of the Senior Manager Learning and Development position is to execute the organization’s learning and development (L&D) strategy, with a focus on front-line associate and manager skill development, orientation and on-boarding, and career development. This position will also assess organizational L&D needs, implement L&D programs, and evaluate L&D outcomes. Essential Functions: • Develops interactive business relationships with key stakeholders in Operations, Human Resources, and Concepts to understand the learning and education desired state, prioritize efforts, create, assess, and evaluate policies and programs, and manage leadership expectations. • Participates in the development of the enterprise-wide L&D strategy, the design, development and implementation of learning pathways and their supporting tools and resources. • Identifies training needs and recommends appropriate learning solutions and enhancements to current programs, develop new programs, and L&D projects (instructor-led courses, e-learning courses, discussion guides for managers, self-study materials, job aids etc.) through all available platforms. • Implements, manages, and evaluates organization-wide leadership/management development and learning programs (i.e.: Multi-Unit Manager, GM Fundamentals, Supervisory Skills development). • Manages supporting L&D technology and maintains content in the learning management system; maintains a catalog of learning and development programs and activities. • Researches, previews, and recommends external learning courses to fill content gaps and provide new learning opportunities. • Evaluates the effectiveness of L&D programs through observation, testing, and auditing; makes recommendations designed to enhance outcomes, associate engagement, and learning experience. • Participates in the continuous evaluation, design, development, and implementation of effective orientation and on-the-job training to enable leaders to set-up new frontline associates and managers for success. • Organizes and integrates external and proprietary brand training, guest experience, and customer service training into HMSHost training programs. • Manages and supports L&D efforts related to engagement, culture, coaching and organization-wide change management projects. • Produces reports and analyses to support training compliance and completion rates. Reporting relationship and other important information: • The Senior Manager Learning and Development as described falls under the Fair Labor Standards act as an Exempt position • The position regularly and actively interacts with key, multi-functional stakeholders in Operations, HR, Finance and Concepts at all levels • The position reports to the Director of Learning and Development • This position should be able to work a hybrid schedule, based in Bethesda, MD Office Location • Requires ability to travel 30% of the time for meetings and to visit branch locations

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment: • Requires technical and business acumen generally obtained through a bachelor’s degree in HR, Organization Development or related field and 3-5 years of training and facilitation in a hospitality or food and beverage environment. • Requires demonstrated expertise engaging adult learners across all levels of the food and beverage business. • Requires demonstrated ability to build collaborative partnerships, effectively collaborate in person and remotely to accomplish tasks and establish relationships at all levels within the organization. • Requires proficiency in analyzing learning and statistical data and processes to evaluate and assess achievement toward L&D goals. • Requires a working knowledge of office technology platforms; requires proficiency in Microsoft applications (PowerPoint, SharePoint, Word and Excel). • Requires a working knowledge of learning authoring tools (Camtasia, Articulate Storyline and Rise, Canva, Vyond, PowerPoint, etc.).
