Description:

Summary: The Director, Human Resources executes HR policies and programs within the corporate office and provides professional HR guidance and associate support to internal clients. The successful HR Director acts as an associate champion within the confines of the company’s overall HR Strategy. This is an exempt position that reports directly to the VP Human Resources. Essential Functions: •Communicates HR policies, programs, and procedures to corporate leaders and associates and educates on their proper application •Champions best associate engagement practices and monitors individual leaders’ capabilities, weaknesses, and strengths in mastering engaging behaviors. Identifies associate relations trends within client groups and communicates observations to HR leadership. •Actively listens to associates’ concerns, problems, and challenges to monitor consistent policy application and fair treatment. May provide advice and coaching for problem resolution, or actively execute a solution, considering all parties’ points-of-view, the regulatory environment, and HMSHost’s people strategy. •Coaches leaders in best-practice approaches to solving associate relation problems and monitors progress toward desired goals. •Supports department heads in forecasting and planning their talent pipeline requirements in line with the function or business strategy •Assists department heads in providing associates with development opportunities that align with current and future performance standards •Reviews and benchmarks the internal and external environment to improve HR policies and initiatives •Identifies and drives the sharing of best practices across functions to facilitate continuous improvement •Identifies opportunities for HR to add value to the business and communicates ideas to HR leadership. •Provides day-to-day guidance to management and department heads (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions, etc.). Resolves more complex associate relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations. •Maintains in-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements for HR policy, progressive trends and best practices. Partners with the legal department as needed/required to assess risks and resolve issues. •Partners with the Learning and Development team to determine training and development paths and opportunities for corporate associates to help with their career growth and professional performance •Delivers training programs and presentations •Develops and promotes ongoing feedback mechanisms for associates to influence the continuous improvement of HR services and processes

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment: •Requires 7-10 years in increasingly responsible Human Resource management positions and HR certification •Requires college degree or equivalent professional certifications or work experience •Requires strong problem solving skills •Requires ability to make sound, objective, fact based decisions •Requires strong oral and written communication skills, and excellent listening skills •Requires the flexibility and adaptability to prioritize and manage multiple projects •Requires ability to travel 10% of the time
