Description:

Purpose: The purpose of the Payroll Tax Manager position is to manage all US and Canada payroll tax functions, maintain system updates, and resolve all tax related inquiries. This role is a customer service driven position aimed at creating and promoting an environment that embraces teamwork while striving for continuous process improvement. Essential Functions: • Manages all payroll tax functions to ensure US and Canada tax compliance • Supports weekly tax transmissions to third-party tax processing service and ensures timely and accurate tax funding on a weekly basis • Manages and tests tax version updates for HCM and Payroll tax vendor • Responds to tax related inquiries from agencies and employees for issue resolution • Conducts internal and external audits related to payroll tax; identifies problems and recommends solutions • Manages year-end payroll tax processing for US & Canada • Maintains a working knowledge of US and Canada payroll tax laws and changes • Maintains a working knowledge of wage and hour regulations compliance • Evaluates processes to achieve continuous improvement and efficiencies in payroll processing • Partners closely with payroll processors to support the successful delivery of all payroll services Reporting Relationship: The Payroll Tax Manager reports to the Director, Payroll & HRMS Services Major Interdependencies: Finance, IT Systems, external vendors

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment: The combination of education and professional experience must exceed 5 years: • In a leadership role: Requires 2 years of experience supervising a team engaged in executing payroll activities • In a technical role: Requires 5 years of payroll tax experience • A bachelor’s degree in a program related to the functional area can count for 3 of the five-year requirement • In the industry: Hospitality, F&B and/or Retail experience 3-5 years Specialized Training: • Training that leads to an in-depth understanding of payroll tax compliance • Knowledge of state, provincial, and federal payroll tax regulations and statutes • Knowledge of payroll systems- PeopleSoft / Oracle HRMS, ADP, Dayforce Specialized Skillset/Competencies/Traits • High degree of confidentiality relative to all payroll information • Demonstrated history of anticipating the needs of the business and complex stakeholders • Demonstrated experience exhibiting a continuous improvement mindset with the ability to optimize work processes and achieve positive results • Business acumen and also has the mindset required to understand the long-term implications of payroll tax and to advance the organization goals • Location: Requires regular/hybrid presence in F&B Center of Excellence in Bethesda
