Description:

The Corporate Counsel – Labor & Employment is responsible for providing a wide range of support to the Human Resources department and other business units, on a variety of labor and employment issues. This role is engaged in working with Regional HR Directors to ensure best practices are identified and deployed. The Corporate Counsel will provide guidance regarding all other responsibilities as directed by the business or as assigned. This is an exempt position located at the Operations Support Center, supports our business units located at over 100 of our airport locations in over 35 states, and reports to the Associate General Counsel, Labor & Employment. Essential Functions: • Provides legal advice, counsel and support to key partners in Human Resources on a broad range of employment legal matters • Supports Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, Operations and other cross-functional stakeholders • Coordinates and manages employment related projects, including process reviews, new policy rollouts and implementations • Monitors legislation, regulations, case law and government enforcement activities relating to the above substantive legal areas, and provides proactive, strategic advice to HR and relevant stakeholders • Designs and implements new policies, and drafts & maintains employment-related documents • Participates in the creation and delivery of trainings related to employment matters, such as Anti-harassment training, FMLA, Anti-discrimination training, ADA, etc. • Leads privileged internal audits, investigations, and policy & process reviews

Requirements:

• Requires a bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctorate; must be a member in good standing at one or more state bar associations • Requires at least 4 years of experience in employment law; experience in Labor law is a plus • Law firm and/or in-house legal department experience • Experience with federal and state employment laws and advising & counseling clients on such laws • Requires superior organizational skills and ability to manage multiple high-priority major legal projects simultaneously • Requires experience and comfort interacting with management • Sound judgment, strong negotiating capability, decision making, deductive reasoning, interpersonal skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills • Proficiency in legal research, and a strong knowledge of legal research related tools • Experience interacting with executive levels and ability to work without supervision • Excellent drafting and communications skills – oral, written, editorial skills and attention to detail • Ability to travel as needed All job offers will be conditioned on candidates being fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
