Description:

Job Title: Produce Steward Reports to: Produce Manager Status: Hourly/Non_exempt Schedule: Varied Overview: The Produce Steward is responsible for efficient, accurate, stocking and rotation of produce. Must be self-motivated and carry a sense of ownership of their department. Provides outstanding customer service while maintaining a high level of quality product on the sales floor at all times. Must be able to work different shifts within the produce department including value added. Must have flexibility with shift needs. Job Functions: Daily Responsibilities • Engages customers and develops relationships in which to provide the best service possible by covering their needs within the department. • Practices open, positive communication and conflict resolution with coworkers and offers solutions. • Maintains compost and recycling practices. • Follows quality control and rotation program. • Maintains value added program including food prep and rotation. Quality & Safety Standards • Maintains integrity of quality, wholesome, fresh and value proposition of produce while helping department meet margin goals. • Addresses food safety concerns immediately with regard to produce, equipment and food health concerns. • Maintains maintenance of equipment and supplies. • Follows all quality, safety and sanitation standards including proper storage, rotation and use of food. • Maintains a clean and sanitized work area.

Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience • High school diploma, or equivalent, a plus. • Values community, sustainability, passion for food and fun. • Cooking and food experience, a plus. • Produce experience preferred, but not required. • Effective people skills with the capacity to work with a team and independently. • Outstanding customer service.
