Job Title: Assistant Produce Manager Reports to: Produce Manager Status: Hourly/Non-Exempt Schedule: Varied Overview: The Produce Lead assists in maintaining and overseeing the overall daily operations of the produce department. The Produce Lead assists in planning, ordering and merchandising produce for sales maximization and financial success. They are responsible for ensuring the produce department provides the highest quality and service to customers. They provide support for the Produce Department Manager. The Produce Lead takes on overall responsibilities of department in the absence of Produce Department Manager, and assists in creating a comfortable, fun, and efficient department. Also provides excellent leadership and work ethic through best practices. Job Functions: Daily Responsibilities • Assists in monitoring sales and margin of department and makes adjustments as needed. • Assists in department ordering, inventory and quality control. • Provides regular engagement with staff and customers daily. • Creates a forum to engage customers and learn their wants within the department. • Maintains open communication and conflict resolution for staff and customer concerns and assists manager in providing insight to department needs. • Supports programs that minimizes shrink. Quality & Safety Standards • Maintains the highest quality produce offering of wholesome and fresh products while maintaining value proposition. • Responds to all food safety concerns immediately with regard to produce, equipment, staff handling and communicates with all parties necessary to ensure public health is maintained. • Assists in training staff on proper use, care of and maintenance of equipment and supplies. • Maintains all quality, safety and sanitation standards including proper storage, rotation and use of food though leadership and best practices. • Maintains compost and recycling practices.

Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience: • High school diploma or equivalent. • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in produce. • Must have strong communication and collaboration skills. • Values community, sustainability, passion for food and fun. • Cooking and food experience, a plus. • Previous management experience, a plus.
