Title: Deli Lead Reports to: Deli Manager Status: Full-time, Hourly, Non-Exempt Schedule: Varied Overview: The Deli Lead is responsible for providing outstanding customer service while maintaining efficient and accurate stocking, cleaning, and rotation of product. They must be self-motivated and carry a sense of ownership for the department that ensures safe food handling practices, training staff, maintaining accurate inventory, meeting margin goals, clear communication with kitchen regarding product integrity, consistency and availability. They must be able to work a variety of shifts and have flexibility with their schedule to meet the business needs for the department. Provides back up to Deli Manager for all Person In Charge shifts. Job Functions: Daily Responsibilities • Provide amazing service to customers and co-workers alike. • Trains staff on all aspects of the department for consistency and growth within department. • Creates and maintains systems and communicates processes to optimize department efficiencies. • Listens to customers and provides feedback on optimizing product mix. • Ensures signage, pricing, ingredient, ad accuracy and audits scale labels. • Oversees Transfer Logs, Shrink Logs and Temp Logs within department. • Operates slicer, wrapping and cooking equipment. • Prepares fresh “grab and go meals” while adhering to strict company portions and guidelines. • Replenishes “grab and go” program including fresh soup, sandwiches, salad & yogurt bar. • Performs food prep duties and monitors food rotation. • Contributes to the organization being financially fit in order to grow the business and benefit our communities. • Assists Deli Manager as needed. • Answers phones and takes special orders. • Embraces organization, efficiencies and maintains a clean workspace. • Practices open, positive communication and conflict resolution with co-workers. • Observes shift operating hours at all times as scheduled. • Adheres to all safety and sanitation standards during the shift. • Other related duties as specifically assigned. Quality & Safety Standards • Maintains integrity of in house quality, wholesome, fresh, and value added products while helping the department meet margin goals. • Addresses food safety concerns immediately with regard to products, equipment, and food health concerns. • Practice open positive communication and, conflict resolution with co-workers and customer concerns. Share alternative solutions. • Be organized and maintain a clean workspace. • Maintains maintenance of equipment and supplies. • Observe the regular HAACP and temperature logs within coolers and cases and immediately report failures to store management. • Follow quality control and rotation guidelines. • Maintain compost and recycle practices. • Observe shift operating hours at all times as scheduled. • Understand the need to be financially fit in order to grow the business and benefit our communities.

Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience: • High school diploma or equivalent and experience working in a deli or grocery, restaurant, or related field or an acceptable combination. • Values community, sustainability, and passion for food & fun. • Deli experience preferred, but not required. • Effective people skills with the capacity to work with a team and independently. • Reliable and dependable, with the ability to follow directions • Understanding of outstanding customer service. Physical Requirements: • Regularly lift up to 50 pounds with or without assistance • Regularly working in areas that can be wet and slippery • Regularly required to stand, bend, climb and reach. • Repetitive arm and hand movements, manual dexterity to wrap, package and stock product up to 30 pounds. • Requires standing for prolonged periods of time, walking, and climbing on a step stool. • Exposure to extreme temperature changes • Requires vision for working with sharp knives, slicer, box cutter and related equipment will need to determine spoiled or damaged product.
