California Minimum Wage is $15.50/hr effective 1/1/2023 Some Cities have higher Minimum Wages (LA City currently is $16.78/hr) Job Duties: • Greet all customers in a friendly manner. • Thank customers for their patronage. • TRAIN new cashiers and employees in many areas: Customer Service, Cash Handling/Check Cashing, Dress Code, and Professionalism. • Complete all sales transactions: Cash, Credit Card, Debit Card, WIC, and Food Stamps. • Cash checks in accordance with policy. • Bag merchandise after sales transaction is completed and paid for customer. • Maintain a clean workstation. • Walk produce department daily. • Sign in and out for breaks. • Scan items per minute within policy. • Follow the cash irregularities policy. • Supervise all front end employees, make sure our company provides outstanding customer service at all times. (Properly staffed as business requires) • Verify and approve all customer returns, price adjustments, rain checks, and checks in accordance with company policy. • Assist cashiers with 9, 32, 50, 11, etc. Pick up cash drops when needed. • Schedule and make sure Cashiers and Courtesy Clerks take breaks. Make weekly schedules and post by Saturday afternoon. • Monitor Sweep Sheet log, & Log, Injury Reports, and all other front end forms are up to date. • Monitor shopping carts and ad fliers for customers. • Discipline (including warnings, suspensions, and terminations) and encourage front end department employees. • Supervise and train all front end employees, including safety. • Notify Scan Coordinator of any incorrect price and items not able to scan immediately. • Enforce all company regulations. Make sure everybody is wearing proper uniform, no eating at registers, etc. • Enforce all government regulations for WIC, SNAP, Alcohol and tobacco sales. • Know weekly specials. • Operate cash till, balancing the till at the end of your shift. • And all other assigned job duties. Job Requirements: • Follow dress/uniform policy. • Must pass Produce Code Test. • Must pass WIC Grocery Test. • Must follow ABC (Alcohol Beverage Control) regulations, ask for identification for any individual who appears to be under the age of 35. • Must ask for identification for any individual who appears to be under the age of 21 when purchasing cigarettes. When closing: • Get all the readings for cashiers. • Make sure all cashiers leave their register drawers open and clean. • Make sure all go-backs are put back and store is thoroughly cleaned. • Write down notes on the daily log regarding any activity that will help or inform the opening manager.
