Description:

The Managing Director is the key management leader of the KFC Foundation, providing direction and leadership in driving the broader Foundation development, marketing, and growth strategy. The Managing Director is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs, financials, and strategic plan of the Foundation. Other key duties include supporting our restaurant operators and franchisees by providing support, as well as driving awareness and participation of the Foundation’s programs; the main goal is keeping participation in the Foundation. The position reports to the KFC Foundation Board of Directors with day-to-day accountability to a KFCC Director who serves on the board. About the KFC Foundation: The KFC Foundation, an independent non-profit organization, provides charitable support to KFC U.S. restaurant employees through education, hardship assistance and personal finance programs. The KFC Foundation was founded to harness and share the legacy of Colonel Harland Sanders through meaningful programs that impact the communities in which we live and work and the team members that support our restaurant owners and operators. Major Functions and Accountabilities: 1. Organization Mission and Strategy •Builds and provides visionary leadership to the organization in the areas of development, strategic initiatives, external partnerships and research related to innovative, relevant and evolving programs to deliver on the vision of the organization. •Builds business cases to support recommendations for programs and provides in-depth program analyses and results. •Serves as articulate and passionate spokesperson for the KFC Foundation both internally with stakeholder audiences and externally with charitable partners, the media and customers as appropriate, advocating for the advancement, awareness and engagement in the Foundation’s programs. •Increases visibility and leadership image of Foundation and its programs including integrating the program in the KFC system by ensuring programs are tied to brand and marketing vision and strategy. •Works with Board to review and revise annually as necessary, the Foundation strategy and vision, philosophy, mission, goals and objectives. 2. Financial Performance and Viability •Drive continued participation in the cole slaw donation program by ensuring our operators receive the support they need to find value in the Foundation for their teams. •Ensures funding mechanism for Foundation programs is strategic, relevant and aligned across all system stakeholder groups. •Develops annual operating budget and manages budget throughout the fiscal year. •Works closely with Finance Committee and external accountant to ensure fiscal responsibility. •Manages annual audit of finances with external accountant, reporting results to the Board. •Ensures day-to-day administrative responsibilities are executed including ensuring the KFC Foundation meets all government and IRS requirements for 501(c)3 public charities. 3. Organization Operations & Support •Provides support to all operators and franchisees to drive participation in the Foundation programs. This includes proactive efforts to support and seek feedback on the programs. Building relationships is key in this position. •Oversees and develops briefs to guide Foundation projects; plans, organizes, monitors and controls all aspects of Foundation projects ensuring engagement, commitments and risk management; provides ongoing communications support on program development and implementation status ensuring Board engagement and alignment. •Provides leadership, development and execution of Board approved marketing recommendations and plans that will drive system engagement and Foundation program growth. •Develops and executes an internal and external communications plan for all KFC US restaurants, franchisees, employees and customers including an annual calendar of communications. Ensures Foundation programs are communicated and marketed internally and externally through all viable channels. •Manages, provides coaching and development planning for Foundation staff. 4. Board Governance •Fulfills Foundation governance requirements, including making governance recommendations as warranted, subject to Board approval and as directed by Foundation bylaws. •Works with Board developed and approved Committees and Task Forces, ensuring strategic and business plans are executed for Foundation’s viability and success. •Coordinates quarterly (or more frequent as necessary) Foundation Board Meetings including providing pertinent pre-read and action materials along with presenting detailed, relevant updates to Board, NCAC and KFCC Leadership as appropriate. •Engages in regular and relevant communications and engagement with Foundation Board in addition to Board meetings, ensuring` alignment, advocacy and involvement in the ongoing future of the Foundation. Leverage technology programs to deliver relevant and timely communications. •Regularly evolves Foundation programs through proactively engaging Board in proposed Foundation program growth including regular phone calls, meetings, video conferences or presentations. •Works closely with the Board Chair and the KFCC Supervisor to ensure continuity and collaboration of all Foundation efforts. •Serves as Board Secretary, documenting all meetings and communications.

Requirements:

•Minimum 5 years of experience successfully managing a national, marketing, cause marketing or communications agenda including experience with a multi-million-dollar public charity or foundation, preferably national in scope. Comparable experience leading national philanthropic or charitable programs for a corporation will also be considered but program management and project leadership preferred over traditional not-for-profit experience. •Solid, hands-on budget-management skills, including preparation, analysis, decision-making, and reporting. •Experience in marketing, strategy development, program development and plan execution including senior leadership engagement. •Strong communication, public speaking and relationship-building skills. •Highly organized, motivated strategic and innovative thinker with a passion for bringing to life the legacy of Colonel Harland Sanders through meaningful, relevant and noteworthy programs. •Experience utilizing and leveraging technology to advance the breadth and depth of national programs. •Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, philanthropy/non-profit management required, advanced degree preferred.
