Description:

The Manager of Package Engineering will lead the Package Engineering team in the development of breakthrough packaging, programs and engineering solutions enabling our brand to be world class operationally and relevant, easy and distinctive for our guests. This position shall facilitate strategic partnerships with key vendors, brand leadership, RSCS and franchisees to enable the flawless development, implementation and quality maintenance of packaging designs. This position will work with cross functional partners to design packaging that delivers on operational, financial, consumer, marketing/merchandising, product and sustainability requirements. This will involve managing multiple vendor relationships, making data based decisions to anticipate the need of the business and leveraging system scale to drive efficiency while collaborating cross functionally internally. •Lead the packaging vision and innovation process developing new packaging in support of new products or calendar windows in all DEDVIM stages. Maintains accountability for all functional specifications •Work in partnership with cross functional calendar teams in support of national calendar implementation, LTOs and test markets in the disciplines of packaging •Support restaurants with packaging solutions in areas with legislative bans and provide thought leadership in driving sustainability initiatives •Develops and builds supplier relationships to drive innovation, continuous improvement and quality •Ensures packaging quality is maintained and leads any resolution of quality failures to ensure consistency in Core offerings •Seek out and identify areas of packaging based improvements then develop actionable strategies to address •Make data based decisions to define strategy maximizing system impact of developed solutions •Use disruptive thinking to challenge the status quo •Work in partnership with all business functional areas, outside vendors and franchise owners •Actively engage in RFP process providing guidance on supplier performance and risk •Responsible for Alternate Vendor Approval (AVA) related to packaging ensuring secure supply chain •Provide results oriented technical support to field operators with packaging issues in existing restaurants •Actively participate in the RMI process delivering margin improvement to the business while not impacting performance or quality •Move initiatives forward using a defined project management process •Anticipate needs of the organization and needs of direct reports •Lead a team of 2-3 •Ability to travel 20%

Requirements:

•Education/Certifications – Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Chemical, Packaging, Mechanical,) MS/Eng Preferred •Years of Experience – At least 5 years’ experience in a Packaging/Engineering related field, preferably in developing innovative food/beverage packaging solutions for a customer orientated business, as well as functionally appropriate solutions that facilitate delivery of the organization’s goals. Demonstrated successful track record of leading a team of direct reports. Restaurant industry or manufacturing experience is preferred. •Understanding of retail/restaurant operations preferred •Track record of successfully managing vendor relationships •Demonstrated ability to influence and inspire others of all levels of the organization and franchise system is required •Cross-functional collaborator and thought leader •Willingness to challenge the status quo •Demonstrated performance of people development •Strong communication skills •Demonstrated track record of creative problem solving •High level of accuracy and timeliness in completing assignments •Strong analytic skills and attention to detail •Ability to handle and resolve conflict effectively •Strong leader and developer of people •Self-starter and able to adapt to fast paced fluid work environment •Highly organized with the ability to perform multiple tasks and handle changing priorities
