Description:

Direct, manage, and provide legal support regarding employment law matters, KFC litigation and brand protection efforts, and real estate-related matters. Function as a critical business partner and legal advisor to key business units such as Human Resources, Development, Finance, PR, and IT. Employment Law •Provide business-minded legal guidance and direction to HR-partners in the field at the RSC relating to matters such as hiring, transitions, discipline, investigations, wage-and hour matters, legal compliance, and HR-related initiatives; •Address and respond to EEOC, Department of Labor, and state and local enforcement agency actions; •Provide strategic counsel supporting the development and drafting of employment-related policies and procedures; •Coordinate and lead company-wide education on employment-related matters; and •Review and advise on crucial business initiatives that impact employment-related matters. Litigation and Brand Protection •Develop and direct overall and individual litigation strategy and coordinate with outside counsel; •Provide strategic leadership during discovery and investigation process; •Lead mitigation efforts to address Brand-risks and litigation-risks as they arise; •Provide legal counsel and leadership in crisis-management situations; •Effectively manage litigation budgets and coordinate appropriately with Yum! Risk/Insurance Team. Real Estate Law •Work with Development and Finance on critical business initiatives involving real estate; •Draft critical real estate documents such as purchase agreements, leases, assignments, subleases; •Negotiate with opposing counsel on real estate matters; and •Provide legal counsel to Property Manager.

Requirements:

EDUCATION: This position requires a JD degree from an accredited law school and strong academic credentials. EXPERIENCE (and other qualifications): Ideal candidates will have 4-6 years of prior experience in an in-house law department or top tier law firm. Candidates must be a member of State Bar for any U.S. State. Additional skills needed include: •Substantive knowledge of employment law and commercial litigation •Excellent communication ability, strong written and verbal skills and the ability to listen and effectively explain complex legal issues to non-lawyers •Ability both to self-start, work proactively and follow through, but also the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment •Sound judgment and strong critical thinking and analytical skills •Ability to regularly deal with ambiguity and assess risk; ability to synthesize complex information effectively; ability to concisely translate complicated issues into actionable recommendations and solutions •Detail oriented but with ability to understand and communicate the big picture •Excellent interpersonal skills and proficiency on cross-functional teams with a demonstrated ability to influence and coach others effectively •Ability to solve problems, deliver results and serve as a pro-active business partner to internal clients •Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks and handle changing priorities successfully in a fast-paced environment •High personal and professional integrity and the ability to establish personal credibility within the department and organization •Sense of humor a must.
